To Selflessly Serve
Do a Good Turn Daily… thats the Slogan that calls all Scouts and Scouters to look for opportunities to “Help other People at all times.”
Opportunities to help are all around you. Holding a door open for someone, carrying a bag of groceries, or just simply offering a smile to someone that looks down.
When you do a good turn, it will come back to you. But you should not look for praise or a pat on the back. To selflessly serve is to serve without regard to personal gain. When we help others we do it because it is the right thing to do, not because we are looking for a headline in the paper, payment, or accolades. We do it for the feeling of doing something good for someone else.
Your reward or payment comes in the satisfaction of knowing that you have done well. That you have been of assistant to someone in need.
Your help does not have to be of a grand scale, you would be surprised, that the simplest things mean the most to people.
What goes around comes around.
Have you seen those commercials of people witnessing an act of kindness… then doing an act.. and so on and so on…
That is what doing a good turn daily does. Think about the act of helping that may cause someone else to do an act of help, which in turn will cause an act. Now imagine that you cause this snowball of help and the effect if has on those around you and your community.
Pretty powerful stuff.
Do a Good Turn Daily… be a selfless servant.
Have a Great Scouting Day!
